Private by design, not by promise

Most dictation tools send your voice to a server and ask you to trust them. VoxChimp does the work on your Mac, so there is nothing to trust us with.

Your audio never leaves

Dictation, translation, and speaker labelling all happen on your Mac. There is no audio upload in the product, so there is nothing to switch off.

No app account, no sign-in

Download, install, dictate. Activation uses your licence key and an anonymised device identifier. There is no profile of you to build.

Your files stay yours

Transcripts, history, and settings are plain local files you can open, back up, or delete. Keys live in the macOS Keychain. Your content never sits on our servers.

Every byte that can leave your Mac, and when

When you use the VoxChimp app on your Mac, this is the complete list. No marketing fog, including the optional features that do send text.

Feature What leaves your Mac Your control
Dictation and transcription Nothing Always on-device
Translation (18 languages) Nothing Always on-device (macOS 15 or later)
Speaker identification and naming Nothing Always on-device

Agent Mode Text only
Your command plus any selected or clipboard text, sent to the AI provider you picked with your own key.

The text to be read aloud, only when a cloud voice is selected. Audio of your own voice is never sent.
Opt-in. The default voice runs on your Mac
Licence activation
Your licence key and an anonymised device identifier. Never raw hardware details, never your content. Adding a new machine asks for an email address for a one-time verification code.
Required once per machine
App analytics
Anonymous feature events. Never transcripts, never audio.
Opt-in, off by default
Updates and model downloads
A version check goes out; files come in.
Standard HTTPS

Audio is never on this list because audio never leaves. Everything you say is turned into text on your Mac before any optional feature sees a single character.

You hold the keys

API keys live in your Keychain
If you connect an AI provider, your key is stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac and used only to call the provider you chose. We never see, transmit, or store it.
Local options for the optional bits
Agent Mode and voice output both have local alternatives, and web search can be turned off or routed through your own SearXNG endpoint. See recommended local models.

Built for rooms where confidentiality is the job

Healthcare

Dictate clinical notes into any EHR or browser-based system. Patient audio never touches a server, so there is no third-party processor between you and your notes. See how clinicians use VoxChimp.

Legal

Privileged material stays privileged. Case notes, contract mark-ups, and client correspondence are transcribed on your Mac and stored in files you control. See how lawyers use VoxChimp.

The questions people ask us

Your licence key and an anonymised device identifier, used solely to validate the licence. It never includes raw hardware details or any of your content. When you activate on a new machine, we ask for an email address to send a one-time verification code.
App analytics exist but are opt-in and switched off by default. If you opt in, VoxChimp sends anonymous feature events, never your transcripts or audio. The website uses consent-gated analytics cookies.
