Privacy Policy

Introduction
VoxChimp ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our macOS voice dictation application.
Please read this privacy policy carefully. By using VoxChimp, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Our Privacy-First Approach
VoxChimp is designed with privacy as a core principle. All voice processing happens on your Mac, and your audio recordings never leave your device. We have no access to your audio or to text you dictate locally.
Two features can send text off-device when you choose to use them: Agent Mode (sends your command and any clipboard text you include to the AI provider you configured) and optional web search (sends your search query to the search provider you configured). See the Agent Mode and optional web search section below for details.
Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we never have access to:
- Your voice recordings or audio data
- Your transcribed text from local dictation (the text VoxChimp pastes at your cursor)
- Contents of your transcription history
- Information about which applications you use
- Keystrokes or text you type
- Screen content or screenshots
- Contacts, calendars, or other personal files
Note: If you actively use Agent Mode or web search, the text you send through those features goes to the third-party provider you chose. VoxChimp does not see, store, or relay that traffic, but it does leave your Mac. See Agent Mode and optional web search below.
Information We Collect
We collect limited information necessary to provide our service:
Account Information
- Email address: Used for license delivery, account management, and important service communications.
- Name: Optional, used for personalizing communications.
Payment Information
- Payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your full credit card number, CVV, or banking details.
- We receive only: last four digits of your card, card type, expiration date, and billing postal code for fraud prevention.
License Verification
- Machine identifier: A cryptographic hash of your Mac's hardware ID used solely to validate your license. This identifier cannot be reversed to identify your specific computer and is not personally identifiable.
- App version: To ensure compatibility and deliver updates.
Usage Analytics (Optional)
- Anonymous, aggregated statistics about feature usage to improve the app.
- Crash reports to identify and fix bugs.
- You can opt out of analytics in the app settings.
Data Stored Locally on Your Mac
The following data is stored locally on your computer and never transmitted to us:
- Transcription history: Stored in
~/.voxchimp_history.json - Application settings: Stored in
~/.voxchimp_config.json - Voice health metrics: Stored in
~/.voxchimp_health/ - Audio archives: If enabled, stored in
~/.voxchimp_audio/
This data remains on your Mac unless you explicitly export or delete it. We recommend regular backups of important data.
How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Validate your license and prevent unauthorized use
- Send transactional emails (receipts, license keys, subscription updates)
- Provide customer support
- Improve our application based on aggregated usage patterns
- Notify you of important updates or security issues
Agent Mode and optional web search
VoxChimp includes an optional Agent Mode that lets you ask an AI agent to do something with your voice or selected text. When you use Agent Mode, the following text leaves your Mac and is sent to the AI provider you configured:
- Your command (transcribed locally from your voice before sending)
- Any text you select or include from your clipboard as context for the command
Audio is never sent. Transcription always happens on your Mac before any text is forwarded.
Bring your own key (BYOK)
Agent Mode is BYOK. You configure the AI provider and supply your own API key. Supported providers include Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Grok, GitHub Copilot, and self-hosted models via Ollama or LM Studio. Your API key is stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac and used only to call the provider you chose. We do not see, transmit, or store your API key.
Your interaction with the AI provider is governed by that provider's privacy policy and terms. We are not a party to that exchange.
Optional web search
Agent Mode can fetch live web results when you enable it. If you do, your search query is sent to the search provider you configured (SearXNG self-hosted, Brave, Tavily, SerpAPI, or Serper). The same BYOK principles apply: your search-provider key is stored in the macOS Keychain, and your query is governed by that provider's policy.

We use the following third-party services:

Supabase
